Field Foreman
(Levels 1, 2, 3)

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review and recommend ideas or procedures to help improve jobsite safety, productivity, etc.

    • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, technical procedures, specifications, job schedules, and regulations for the job

    • Understand the method of construction utilized for each project.  If you don’t fully understand, ask questions.

    • Review and understand your scope of work and job budget (We will help you with this).

    • Assist management in updating project schedules and work duration forecasts.

    • Enforce all safety regulations, company policies and procedures.

    • Daily Onsite Management of assigned project and team members.

    • Inform and manage team members on issues such as: rain events, time off, tardiness, work schedules, assist with reviews, job site disputes, etc.

    • Facilitate good jobsite training and coaching practices to accelerate the growth of your team members.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Three years of experience in a construction supervisory role working with utility/excavation/trenchless/underground equipment.

    • High school diploma or GED.

    • Class A CDL and 3G welding cert a must

    • Ability to effectively manage jobsites and team members

    • Basic understanding of survey principles of measurement and mapping.

    • Ability to SAFELY operate all types of heavy equipment used on construction jobsites.

    • Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment.

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specs, regulations, and technical procedures.

Heavy Equipment Operator

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Safely and proficiently operate and maintain various pieces of construction equipment. Some examples would be, but are not limited to, a rubber-tire loader, excavator, rubber-tire backhoe, auger bore machines, pilot tube micro-tunneler, caisson drill, etc. Always ensure that you have been properly trained on the equipment and understand its’ operation BEFORE you operate.

    • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment operated. Always perform pre-operation check of equipment before starting and operating. Completely grease and clean out cab of assigned equipment daily. Keep windows of assigned equipment clean. Fuel equipment daily, at end of shift or as required. Fill out hour and maintenance reports. Perform small repairs and report major repairs and damage of equipment to management. Report any damage to equipment, per company policy. Check for proper track tension and tire pressures on assigned equipment. Assist others on the crew.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Abilities to operate many pieces of equipment from Track hoes to Loaders from the size of 200 and above.

    • Always be aware of your surroundings and work alongside your crew members is a safe proficient manner.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintenance and Repair of all types of construction equipment and trucks on-site and in the shop

    • Troubleshooting malfunctions or problems with the equipment. Identify the problem and make decisions on how to repair equipment

    • Research how to repair or improve a piece of equipment, if required.

    • Maintain shop yard and work area. Help keep all working areas neat, organized, and safe

    • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance work and input into company maintenance database.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Maintain a Class A CDL and good driving record.

    • Welding Certifications are a PLUS.

    • Previous industry experience.

    • Mechanical background.

    • Be familiar with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, electronic systems, and electric motors and generators.

Welder

  • RESPONSIBITIES

    • Safely work around heavy equipment operation, bore equipment operation, rigging, and welding

    • Personally, inspect all tools and equipment before use

    • Learn about the different types of equipment

    • Prepare for work tasks at the direction of the Foreman and look for things that need to be done.

    • Wear task-appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required when completing tasks.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Take ownership of completing tasks on Laborer knowledge sheets.

Sr. Project Manager /
Estimator

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Sr Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for compiling competitive bids, developing and maintaining good customer relations and service, and profitability of jobs. The Sr Project Manager /Estimator works at the direction of the VP Operations and coordinates with the project engineers, foreman, and administration support services, including supervising field management and field and estimating assistants.

    Technical

    • Obtain clear and complete understanding of the specified requirements and the physical conditions on projects to bid.

    • Track estimates submitted for industry cost trends in our areas of operation. Know our competition and what their workload is, relative to industry capacity and demand.

    • Develop and maintain overall construction/workload schedule.

    • Track actual production rates, crew efficiency, etc. and ensure estimating software data base is up to date.

    • For projects won, complete understanding of contract commitments and requirements.

    • Prepare job information packets for field management for bids won.

    • Ensure project details, i.e. submittals and specific deliverables are provided, are accurate, and timely.

    • Prepare and maintain project schedules and budgets.

    • Attend weekly staff coordination meetings.

    • Set up and maintain project controls.

    Interpersonal

    • Communicate with client and field employees, regularly, to ensure quality, safety, profitability, and that contract deadlines are met.

    • Conduct bi-weekly progress meetings for projects, and attend or hold regular project progress meetings with clients, owners, engineers, etc.

    • Supervise estimating assistant and coordinate with Operations Manager to complete accurate, competitive bids.

    • Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential clients, engineers, owners, etc.

    Business

    • Monitor the upcoming work and coordinate with VP of Ops to hire appropriate talent as necessary.

    • Coordinate trucking/transport needs with Shop Manager.

    • Prepare billings and pay estimates by the 25th of the month or as soon as project is complete.

    • Oversee and coordinate with Foreman and Services Manager, daily construction and service operations, including scheduling equipment and manpower.

    • Coordinate with Operations Manager to develop the weekly “Jobs to Bid” list and maintain the status of the list.

    Leadership

    • Ensure that construction best practices, performance indicators, metrics, and company knowledge/advancement processes are accurate and utilized to increase quality, performance, teamwork, and profitability.

    • Conduct Job Turnover meetings for projects won, providing assigned foreman with prepared job information packet, production rates bid and any other project details.

    • Enforce company policy and procedures.

    • Be a leader, set the example. Follow the company Mission, Vision, and Values.

    EXPECTATIONS

    Results

    • Manage new business development pipeline and jobs, with a Bid list with weekly updates.

    • Win new work, new tasks, and jobs with a target win ratio of 35% or greater, being mindful that the company’s mandatory-minimum Bid/win ratio is 20%.

    • Manage margins and Job cost target at 70% or less of job revenue.

    • Complete project close out procedures on 100% of jobs for invoicing, billings.

    Team Building

    • Organized information transferred to estimating and field assistants, and field managers (foremen).

    • Disciplined coaching and individual development process in implemented and completed monthly.

Laborer

  • Laborers work as part of a team to accomplish various tasks related to underground construction. They must work safely around heavy machinery and various tools of the trade. Assigned tasks will vary depending on the type and current phase of the job. Laborers are expected to learn each process through participating and asking questions.

Construction Estimator

 
  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Construction Estimator will work under the direction of the company’s Operations Manager and is responsible to create accurate and competitive bids. The Construction Estimator will efficiently and effectively gather all the documents needed to give the most cost-efficient estimate for jobs. Those include specifications, plans, technical drawings, subcontractor quotes and material costs. The Estimator will also keep up with market trends to ensure bids are reasonable and competitive. After projects are complete, the construction estimator will work with Project Mangers to evaluate the accuracy of bids and track results.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Technical

    • Prepares and estimates budget costs for jobs by studying plans, specifications, and site conditions.

    • Coordinates with the Operations Manager to develop the “Jobs to Bid” list and maintains the list.

    • Determining what factors will influence the cost of our services.

    • Negotiate supplier prices.

    • Provide sub-contractors with all drawings and site plans prior to the bidding process.  

    • Meet with the Project Manager’s to hand off projects and discuss bid strategy.

    • Support all field operations especially during startup of a new project.

    • Prepare bids for all types of work: trenchless, tunneling, pipe rehab, vertical drilling, utility locating, open cut, excavation, shoring and wet utilities.

    • Read geotechnical reports, plans, and specifications to give accurate bids.

    • Obtain clear and complete understanding of the specified requirements and the physical conditions on projects to bid.

    • Know our competition and what their workload is, relative to the industry capacity and demand.

    • Ensure estimating software database is correct and up to date.

    • Knowledgeable/ up to date on latest technology, current methods, and equipment  

    Interpersonal

    • Management of assigned projects and current bids.

    • Maintain good relationships with owners, site managers, inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and other key people connected with the project.
